We harness the unique capabilities of Phase Change materials to Store energy.
Energy storage is the process of capturing and storing energy for future use. Devices that store energy are commonly referred to as batteries. Storage devices can save energy in many forms. That’s what we do. Our products help balance energy demand and production.
States of Matter
PhaseStor® utilizes proprietary technology to store Thermal Energy, similar to a car battery but without electricity. Our energy storage systems are versatile, applicable to various settings such as homes, businesses, and restaurants. It can be employed for tasks like heating water, peak shaving in buildings, ensuring food safety during transportation, and maintaining optimal food conditions in restaurants.
Our leading-edge technology employs innovative PCM (phase change materials), enabling us to create highly efficient and eco-friendly Thermal Batteries.
Ice is often cited as the best example of a phase change material due to its unique properties and widespread practical applications. Phase change materials (PCMs) are substances that can absorb or release a large amount of energy as they change from one phase (solid, liquid, or gas) to another, while maintaining a nearly constant temperature. Ice exhibits these characteristics in several ways:
- Latent Heat of Fusion: Ice has a high latent heat of fusion, which means it can absorb significant amount of thermal energy while changing from a solid (ice) to a liquid (water) at its melting point of 0°C (32°F) without a significant temperature increase.
- Temperature Regulation: When you add heat to ice at its melting point, it remains at 0°C until it completely melts into water.
- Thermal Energy Storage: Ice can be used as a thermal energy storage medium. It is charged by freezing water when excess energy is available (e.g., during off-peak hours or at night) and discharged when heat is needed (e.g., during peak hours or sunny days).
- High Energy Density: Ice can store a lot of energy in a small space, making it efficient for thermal storage. 144 BTUs/lb.
